Letter of Interest - Survey
Our staff of Registered Professional Land Surveyors has many years of surveying experience. Mr. Cecil J. Booth, P.E., R.P.L.S., will be the Project Manager in all surveying work as the Director of Land Surveying for our firm. Mr. Booth has a tremendous amount of experience in the surveying field including having accomplished many surveying projects for TxDOT, Houston and Yoakum Districts. He has been involved in various types of surveys for TxDOT including right of way mapping, which includes the preparation of right-of-way maps, parcel plats and property descriptions suitable for the acquisition of real property, horizontal and vertical ground control in support of aerial photogrammetry and construction, ground surveys in support of engineering design and the setting of permanent right of way makers. In addition to Mr. Booth, several of our Survey Crew Chiefs have extensive survey party experience covering each of the various types of surveys listed above. Mr. Larry A. Sellers, Crew Chief, has been with Baker & Lawson, Inc. since 1972, except for a very brief period. Another Crew Chief, Mr. Ernest J. Martin, III, has been with BLI since 1989. Mr. Jerry Stefka is our head GPS survey technician and is responsible for all field work done with GPS. Baker & Lawson, Inc. owns and uses some of the most modern and up-to-date surveying equipment and computer software on the market today. Our equipment includes Nikon Total Stations for collecting data by conventional surveying methods and a Nikon Global Positioning System for Static and Kinematic data collection. Our surveying software is compatible with Microstation. We have completed several TxDOT projects wherein we have collected the field data and prepared both two-dimensional and three-dimensional digital terrain models for use in TxDOT design projects. We at Baker & Lawson, Inc. are committed to providing continued quality surveying services to the Texas Department of Transportation. Because of our good working relationship with TxDOT personnel on many projects, we are able to work together in an efficient and orderly manner to meet survey requirements and project schedules. Each project proposal submitted by Baker & Lawson, Inc. is prepared after carefully considering staff and equipment demands for that project in view of all current company engagements. In spite of our business work load which necessarily changes from day to day, our experienced professional staff and material resources allows us the flexibility to maintain a project schedule to which we have previously committed. The work to be required under the proposed contracts is generally described as follows: a. Right-of-way maps, parcel plats and property descriptions suitable for acquisition of real property. b. Horizontal and vertical ground control in support of aerial photogrammetry and construction. c. Ground surveys in support of design (cross-sections, utility and improvements locations, baseline staking, etc.). d. Global Positioning System (GPS) surveys to establish primary project control. e. Permanent right-of-way markers.
The firm has recently completed the field surveying for the Brazoria County Drainage Master Plan. This involved extensive GPS data collections covering the entire county as well as traditional control staking and sections References:
